Can you get your acrylic nails cut without ruining the polish?

I just got my nails done at a salon that isn't the usual one i go to (because i am at school). I don't like how long they are so I was wondering if i go get the cut down at my salon at home, do i have to get them repainted? I really like the color I have. Can you get your acrylic nails cut without ruining the polish?
no the color will chip....go to a store and by the same exact color and take it to the nail shop, they will do it like that :)Can you get your acrylic nails cut without ruining the polish?
Absolutely not. It won't be picture perfect. Next time you go anywhere to get your nails done, and you are spending YOUR money, then be more decisive about what you want.

Why would pink nail polish turn my finger nails orangery yellow?

I used pink nail polish last Thursday and I took it off with nail polish remover and my nails are coloured yellowy orange what caused this to happen. How can I turn my nails back to normal colour???Why would pink nail polish turn my finger nails orangery yellow?
the clolour of the pink nail varnish made your nails go a bit yellow. Itll fade soon. It happened to me as well!!! Next time put on a clear base coat to protect your nails. The varnish will last longer AND they wont go yellowish.

The colour will fade...don't worryWhy would pink nail polish turn my finger nails orangery yellow?
You most likely didn't put on a protective base coat! Without one, the nailpolish stains your nails. Just keep reapplying the nail polish remover. If you DID apply a base coat then most likely you either have cheap (lame) nail polish or a cheap remover.

or just wait a few days.

x
i'm not 100% sure as to what causes them to do that, but they go back to normal after like 2-4 days for me.

Just remember to put the protective layer of clear nailpolish on first and that shouldn't happen.
just because there is so much pigment in that colour, it usually happens with reds too, soak them in lemon juice, i think that works.and use a base coat from now on.
they use all types of colours to make a specifice colour so the yellow tint has addeared to your nail. yeah use a basecoat to act as a barrier against staining.

x
because you're not using a base coat before you put on your nail polish. the base coat is what prevents nail polish from staining your nail. =(
this never happens to me, but always happens to my friend

and I wear a lot of nail varnish..

just clean them and they go back to normal :]
cheap nail polish:/ lmao

Does anyone know of a way to take your acrylic nails off without ruining your natural nail underneath?

My natural nails usually grow long-but since the winter weather they have been splitting on the side-well, in July I decided to get some acrylic nails, and haven't been able to afford to get them balanced. My nails underneath are long again, Is there any way I can save the length and take them off?Does anyone know of a way to take your acrylic nails off without ruining your natural nail underneath?
Soak them off in pure acetone.Does anyone know of a way to take your acrylic nails off without ruining your natural nail underneath?
Not really, I get nails and don't go get fill in, and what happens is I take them off myself but my natural nail usually comes on if I don't pull them off correctly, and also it depends on the way you pull the acrylic nail off without breaking your real nail. Good Luck! It is painful when you pull them off.
what poision eve said
if you soak them in acetone for a long time it will work. u can go to the nail salon and have it done for about $10 but make sure you tell them you want them soaked off or they might try to rip them off and mess up your real nails.
Soak them in nail polish remover that contains acitone. The acitone will melt the fake nail without harming your natural nail. www.spaagogo.com
Soak them in acetone nailpolis. You can get it at any dollar store.
Yep... soak them in acetone nail polish remover. You'll notice the acrylic start to soften, and get kinda gooey. Then you can use a buffer to help get the acrylic off your nails.
You can use acetone but it will make your natural nails pretty weak. If you have a beauty supply store in your town, go there and ask them or go to the salon and see what they recommend, best to go to the one you had them put on at.
I would recommend that you opt for a gel overlay instead of usign acrylic. It is less harmful to your nails. I have been gettign gel now for a few years.

As far as taking off you can get them soaked off with Acetone and then use a product with vitamins to restore their strength again.
go to a nail salon and get them taken off or jus cut them and let them grow out
To take off acrylic nails, soak them in a shallow dish filled with 100% Pure acetone. You can buy it at most beauty supply stores, the best place is Sally Beauty Supply. When the nail is ';slimy'; feeling, gently buff off with a buff pad or use a new nail brush. You must repeat this process several times to disolve the nail completely. Most nail salons will aslo take the nails off for $10. Afterwork, use a nail fortifying polish clear coat by Sally Hanson (that works best).

Good luck!

Will my redwood tree die or be damaged if I put a platform up in it to sit in? Will nails hurt it?

The tree is about 20 years old and about 60ft tall. It has one big trunk about 40in in diameter, but it splits into three, good-sized trunks. I've heard that redwoods are sensitive, but how sensitive are they? Will my redwood tree die or be damaged if I put a platform up in it to sit in? Will nails hurt it?
remember=nails are a good conductor for lighting. plus the weight mite help the tree split at the forks.

';itch';Will my redwood tree die or be damaged if I put a platform up in it to sit in? Will nails hurt it?
I can;t think the tree would like it, would you? Ask a garden expert at a nursery near you.Or an arbourist.

How can I make my nails grow longer, fast?!?

Homecoming is soon, and I don't want short nails.

Thanks! How can I make my nails grow longer, fast?!?
    i have mega long nails

    -dont bite

    -use stengthening polish

-dont use them to open parcels etc

    -eat cheese, yoghurts

    -drink milk

even if they are still short by homecoming you can make them cute and pretty with clear polish.

and if worse comes to the worse use fake nails. How can I make my nails grow longer, fast?!?
Since I started taking calcium pills, my nails grow like crazy. I guess it depends on how fast you mean. Calcium is always good for you anyway, just be careful to only take the recommended amount. Too much of a good thing, is still to much! Fake nails are always a possibility, but honestly, it's really rough on your nails. In my personal experience, it is highly unlikely the guy is going to notice whether your nails are long or short. Just make sure they are nicely manicured, painted pretty. Whatever you decide, have fun at Homecoming!

you cannot make your nails grow faster. You can make them healthier and stronger by drinking Knox gelatin. If the prom is soon I would get acrylic nails-if that is to high of an expense, try a cosmetology school they are very well supervised and usually 50 to 75 % less expensive. Hope this helps. Have fun at the prom.
I have really bad nails .The only thing that I ever tried that worked (fast) was a Sally Hanson product. I am really sorry, I can't remember the name, it came in a gold bottle and looked like clear nail polish. I am in England and don't even know if you have Sally Hanson in America, if you do it is definitely worth a try.x
You can massage the base of each nail every day for ten seconds. Also, if you have nails that break/rip easily, try having 7 almonds a day or green tea, as both strengthen your nails. Also, I've heard Sally Hansen Hard as Nails is a really good line.
there is no way to grow nails faster only by surgery in hospital but i don't recommend to do it its only makes more problems
vitamins, try on false nails for a while keep them on for about a month then remove it your a nail bitter then this will help they will be long by then.
take the vitamins that they give pregnant woman it really works your nails grow stronger and so does your hair.

How do i make my nails strong?

I stopped biting my nails back in april and they are finally looking the way a nail should but they break so often! any idead on how to make them stronger? How do i make my nails strong?
Sally Hansen's Grow Nails Now! Nail Growth Solution. My nails never grew how I wanted them to so I opted for acrylic nails, this damaged my nails more than they were at the beginning. I decided I'd never get them again. I had been growing them for a little while and they were still weak and flexible. I tried Sally Hansen's and it has been great. It is not a polish, but their polish works great too, it's a formula you apply to your nail and cuticle. I use it like 3 times daily. It is in an orange bottle and has made my nails VERY strong. Remember all nails usually get very flexible when they are wet and are easily broken at that time. I hope the Sally Hansen's works for you!

Best Wishes!!How do i make my nails strong?
    don't bite them!

    let them grow

(and a little nail polish never hurts)

Try Hard as Nails By Sally Hansen
Take calcium supplements (Tums) ea. day.
    use a garlic nailpolish...
Use garlic under your nails for a little while at a time. Like just for a few seconds and thatll help your nails get stronger. I know it sounds gross but it works. Just be sure to wash your hands after.
The question is how did you stop biting your nails?? I been trying for years. But my mother always told me to take gelatin I heard it is also good for your joints you can find it at any drug store.

How often do you trim a bunny's nails?

My bunny's nails get real long. I hate cutting them. Once I cut them too close and they bleed. Any suggestions on how to clip his nails? How often do you trim a bunny's nails?
once per month, and if its white or light you'll see the red/pink line, only cut the white area, if its darker, you may need a flash like to help see the vein

and if your bun-bun starts bleeding again, i'd keep corn starch handy, incase it doesent stop bleeding [once happened to my rabbit... i asked the vet, its harmless to the rabbit]How often do you trim a bunny's nails?
Every 6-8 weeks. The art to this is to get the bunny to lie on his back with his head under your elbow %26amp; hold his paws up to the light %26amp; cut halfway between the length of growth %26amp; the tip. Once you can persuade a bunny to lie in this position it makes it much quicker %26amp; easier to do anything with them.
I clip my bunnies nails ((All 7 )) every 2 weeks or so.

Be sure to leave a millimeter or so, of white, or if they have black nails, hold them up in the light, and be SURE to leave EXTRA room.

If they do bleed, apply pressure with a washcloth or cotton balls until it stops.

Also, I hold my rabbits on their backs in my lap,

Stroke your bunnies ears until he's relaxed, then gently start clipping away. Always do front first, because rabbits HATE to have their hind legs suspended, so front first to let hi mknow it's okay! =)

    Best wishes!
    Nails

Rabbits nails can grow to be very long and sharp and will be uncomfortable for the rabbit. If the rabbit has light colored nails they are very easy to trim. You can see the blood inside the nail and you clip just before that point. The dark colored nails are harder to see where they should be clipped but it is still visible.

People are often afraid to clip nails for fear that they will cause the rabbit to bleed. You can purchase a product called Kwik Stop to keep on hand for this problem, but just holding pressure with a cotton ball works too. Your veterinarian will also clip nails for you. They should be checked every 6-8 weeks.

    http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/groom鈥?/a>
I trim my rabbits nails once a month. I don't use clippers anymore since he freaked out over them now I use a dremel it takes like 10 seconds a nail he is calmer I am calmer and it is over quickly.

When I did cut his nails he has black nails so I had someone hold a flash light under the nail so I could see the quick.
There is a red line in the nail if you look closely you'll see it. This is the area of the nail that you want to avoid when you cut the nail. If you stay away from this area, there won't be any bleeding. If your bunny wiggles when you do this, you may want to ask someone to help you hold your bunny while you trim them. Good luck!
Every 4-6 weeks.. dont cut to close to the pink bit..

You cant be tense and scared while doing it because that will make your bunny feel the same way..

Try some different styles of clippers..

And try to have someone hold your bunny while you trim the nails.
I would say once a month... You should try asking a your local pet store if they can trim them for you. I take my rabbit and it's only $5.

  • Why are my toes all of a sudden starting to itch and burn around my nails to the point where my joints hurt?

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes 2 weeks ago. I have been testing my blood and regulating my diet and have now noticed that my toes are itching and burning uncontrollably to the point where my toe joints hurt when I bend them. What the heck is going on?Why are my toes all of a sudden starting to itch and burn around my nails to the point where my joints hurt?
you might have athletes foot or a fungus infection, they sell medication to get rid of these type of stuff in drug stores. It sounds more like a fungal thing but you said you had diabetes so you might want to call up your doc to ask if they think it's anything to worry about.

How can i stop myself from biting my nails?

i really hate having short nails and i always bite them.

my mum thinks it's because I'm anxious or nervous but I'm honestly not.

my friend thinks it is something to do with me having OCD

why is it and how can i stop it?How can i stop myself from biting my nails?
theres a nail varnish thing that you can put on and it tastes really bad, so you wont want it in your mouth. this may help. i dont think its anything to do with OCD or anything, its just a habit that some people cant help. (:How can i stop myself from biting my nails?
Biting your nails can be a very unhealthy and unsightly bad habit. Not only does it make your hands look unattractive, it鈥檚 also a good way to transfer all kinds of nasty germs from your hands to your mouth. I don鈥檛 know anyone who loves biting their nails; just about everyone who does it wants to stop, so here are some tips on how to stop biting your nails.

First, try to replace your bad habit with a healthier one. When you find your hands traveling towards your mouth, stop yourself and pop in a lollipop, or better yet a raw carrot, instead. It will take some serious, conscious effort on your part to replace your bad habit, but you can do it if you really want to. If you don鈥檛 even realize you鈥檙e chewing on your nails, try wearing a rubber band on your wrist and giving it a little pop every time you find your fingers in your mouth. That will help bring your consciousness to your problem so that you can learn how to stop biting your nails.

Another thing that might help you learn to stop biting your nails is to make your hands look as pretty as possible so that you don鈥檛 want to mess them up. Splurge on a salon manicure so you get some pampering and care lavished on your poor, bitten nails. It only takes about a week or so to start seeing some growth and once you see some progress, you鈥檒l be less likely to want to bite. But remember鈥攊n time of stress you鈥檒l be tempted to go back to biting, no matter how pretty your nails so you need to find some other way to relieve your stress, like meditation, journaling, or exercise
I have been a nail biter all my life. At times, I have grown my nails only start biting them once a couple break and then I'm back to square one. I know how horrible it is to have short, bitten nails, it looks terrible and I am always so self-conscious. One of my colleagues whose nails always looked super said to me that nails are like teeth - we talk with our hands just and often use movement to express ourselves.

Start by making a conscious decision to yourself as to why you want to stop biting your nails.

If you need a little help, have false nails put on but be choosy because often the process of applying nails damages your nail bed and once they come off, your nails will break easily. Perhaps look into a gel overlay.

My suggestion to you is when you start growing them keep them short to start with.

Apply lots of cuticle cream and oil - making an effort with your nails and caring for them will make you want to grow them.

Always keep a nail file handy for when a nail splits and file immediately.

Oh, and always keep them painted, even with a clear varnish, this will stop them from breaking.

    Good Luck!
u can stop, i use to bite my nails all the time in high school. what you can do is paint them and take care of them. what i use is i buy the clear nail polish for strenght and growth from avon, i use it for a week and they grow, the bad thing about it is they grow thin, so for that is i use clear nail polish and it looks wonderful i keep doing them clear and they thick and long. i love it. now that they are long i do them diff. colors, like black, red, beige and clear!!!

    good luck.
i bite my nails too and my mom tells me the same thing and i can-t stop and it starts to hurt and i promiss myself i wont bite them again but i doo and what-s OCD
    Have acrylics applied.

By the way, everyonn with OCD is anxious and nervous.
Put on some nail polish. Nail polish will give a bad taste in your mouth when you bite into it.
    put oven mits on

How do i prevent the skin around my nails from chipping and peeling?

Use a cuticle remover to soften them and get rid of old, dry hang nails. Use a cuticle trimmer to trim off any hang nails that stick out. Do not cut off all of your cuticles; only trim off the dry part.

OPI's Avoplex cuticle remover is the best one. Just apply it and leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse your nails %26amp; rub off the excess cuticle w/ a wash cloth.

Use a cuticle balm or nail oil to moisturize them.

(ex. Solar Oil, OPI Avoplex) Vit E oil, jojoba oil, Aquaphor Healing Ointment, Vaseline or plain Chapstick will work too.

Use a moisturizing soap to wash your hands %26amp; apply lotion throughout the day.How do i prevent the skin around my nails from chipping and peeling?
I have been told it is down to biting your nails if you do not bite your nails try using a moisturiser or wearing gloves in harsh weather. How do i prevent the skin around my nails from chipping and peeling?
frequent use of hand cream, like after every hadn washing, and rub it into your cuticles. or you can rub in some vaseline after every washing.... also use cuticle oil at night
Cuticle l cream is great, or other really good alternatives (often found in cuticle creams) are vitamin E oil, or Castor oil, applied directly to the cuticle and surrounding area.
Get a manicure often and moisturize constantly.
Vitamin E (liquid), olive oil, Dr. Haushka neem nail oil and do not cut them.
I have that same problem but only on my right middle finger. I don't know why.
    file your nails everyother day
Use cuticle cream. You can get them at drugstores for less than 5 bucks!
Use moisturising lotion after taking a bath.
Moisturise your hands daily, don't dry them out (this includes washing them too much)
Besides alot of lotion, weekly manicures. Also, make it a nightly ritual to put on a heavy, greasy lotion before bed each night, let in soak into your hands while you sleep. Also, if working'/cleaning with chemicals like bleach or immonia, use gloves.
    have manecure done.....
Nail oil is great or vitamin e oil works too!

How short should I cut my lab's nails?

My 3 yr old lab has really long nails and it makes it hard for her to walk on anything but carpet. But if I trim her nails even a small amount, she starts bleeding everywhere. Any advice? How short should I cut my lab's nails?
Trim just the very very tips of them. You are probably having a problem because her nails have been too long for too long! Our pit has a fear of getting his nails clipped, we finally got him to relax if we do it ourselves. But because no one could clip them for years-they got very long and the quick grew out (the pink part that will make it bleed if you cut too short)

The solution to this is to cut a teeny tiny bit of the nail off...wait a month or two...and do it again. Its like our nails...the pink part is long if your nails are long, the shorter you keep your nails the more the nail bed shrinks back. Once you get your dogs nails under control they will eventually be able to be cut back shorter. But it will be a slow process

Please do not continue to cut them if they blled, just do a very small amount. Everytime you cut them and she ends up bleeding it will scare her off from having it done.

If she is black or brown, the nails are black so only cut not even a milimeter off of them since you cannot see how long the quick is.

Good luck! How short should I cut my lab's nails?
well if your only trimming it a small amount and its bleeding, that mean that her nails were not trimmed enough growing up and the qwick is growing all the way to the tip. Bring her to the vet and most likely what they will do is a procedure ( while the dog is unconscious) is clip them back far and control the bleeding there till it stops. Thats about all you can do.
If she is bleeding, you have cut them too short, you should be able to tell where the nail starts to get fatter is where the blood vessel is, don't cut that part. If you don't know what you are doing, please just take her to the vet or a groomer, you don't want to hurt her.
You should be able to see the vain in the nail (if they are white). Trim just before the vain. Triming past it is what is causing the bleeding. My dog has a few white and a few black. The black ones you just trim like this {} much.

I hope I was of some help. God Bless.

Here are some websites that might help.
yes....take her to the vet...nail trimming here only costs 5 dollars and they know where the quick on the nails is....if you do cut into the quick they make a product called ';blood stop'; and its a powder and you stick the nail into it......but, the vet is the best choice.....good luck
You should cut her nails short every other week, if you keep doing this then her quick will push further back and further back and then you'll be able to cut them a lot shorter than before.

Maybe you should get her nails cut at the vet, it's only 10 dollars or something and then if she bleeds it won't be on your carpet or anything.
If you look under the nail you should be able to see a clear line where the quick starts. It is the blood vessel that runs through dog's nails. Cut it back to the quick and than wait a week for the vessel to retreat and cut back again until they are short enough. If she still bleeds not cutting past the quick at pet stores they sell a product (don't remember what it is called) that stops the bleeding when you apply it. It is like a styptic pencil for men.

Long nails are a problem and you can also take her to the vet or groomer to have it done if you are nervous.
go vets you are cutting the quick and its painful.if you do it yourself make sure you go petstore b4 you start to get something to stop the bleeding.walk himon hard surface more it will naturally trim them cant you use file instead of cutting?
You may just have to take her to the vet so they can get them down to normal size. but you can buy something called, nick stop. so when you cut her nails and they begin to bleed, put that on and it stops the bleeding and pain just about instantly.
Trim the VERY tips, every week. When the nails grow, so does the quick, so you cannot expect to take of any desirable amount, in a short amount of time.
You could try buying clippers that have a guard on them,If you don't buy a clipper with a guard,Try taking off about 1 Sixteenth of the toe nail.

You are taking to much of the nail she starts bleeding.

Ask you vet if the bleeding continues.

Is there any other way to put acrylic nails on myself instead of going to get them done?

I'd rather just give myself a manicure so does anyone know how to put acrylics on by themselves and make it look just as good as getting them done professionally??Is there any other way to put acrylic nails on myself instead of going to get them done?
I bought a kit at a beauty supply store (Sally Beauty Supply, Maly's is good too), it was only like $8. It came with every thing you need and the instructions. It was very easy to do- my nails looked great on the first try! Just remember to do them in a well ventilated area- the acrylic is strong! They also have other formulas, like gel. And the kits come with enough for multiple uses.

p.s. Although pretty simple, it did take me a while because it was my first try- like at least an hour! And you will want to take your time so you dont screw it up!Is there any other way to put acrylic nails on myself instead of going to get them done?
yes lol buy some super glue!
Go into a Sally Beauty Supply store they sell kits there and they usually come with instructions on how to do it.
well i think that maybe one of your friend could do it so that it won;t be a hassal trying to get them on but make sure you ask a friend that can keep your secreats because if you don't he or she will probaly tell that you have acrylic nails.
    Araldite
Buy some cheap plastic ones at the grocery and some glue..
Yes, there is a way to put acrylic nails on yourself. If you live in the US, there are several retailers, that sale the acrylic nail kits. Many beauty supply stores, sale nail kits, however I believe your efforts and money would be best spent at Wal-mart, Sally's,or Walgreen's. Just follow the instructions, enclosed in the kit, and watch the manicurist in you emerge.
Yes you just go to the store buy all the stuff. You might need someone to assist you but it is possible to do it all by yourself.
Everytime I see a girl with those fake nails on I imagine all the germs living under them.

    Just grow your own nails.
Go to a nail store or a place like Rite Aid and you can get little kits.
They do sell acrylic nail sets at any drug store. But...its really hard to do. especially ur non dominant hand. The glue may bubble up or not be even and look pretty nasty. Also, if you mess it up, you leave yourself open to infections or even worse...fungus growing!

I did it once and it was the worst mistake ever.

Its better to have them done.

  • Is it necessary to file a dog's nails after you clip them?

Is there a real reason for this like the nail may split open or is it just so the nails look nicer? Is it necessary to file a dog's nails after you clip them?
I have two dogs (6 year old and 3year) and I have found after clipping the older ones nails I tend to file them as they don't clip neatly but with the younger one her nails don't need file at all.Is it necessary to file a dog's nails after you clip them?
You don't need to file the nails. It's not necessary, but if you want to to provent scratching then go ahead, but I don't as the walking outside on pavement files them a bit.
I file my dog's after clipping because otherwise they can tear fabrics and cause scratches to people when she is playing.

I don't think it's necessary for any medical reason.
It's not really a necessity. People file them after they cut them because they are sharp little buggers and can scratch you, tear furniture or get snagged on fabric.
It rounds the nail off so it's less likely to snag on stuff. I find it's a lot easier to just dremmel my dogs nails instead of clipping.
yeah it is good because they are all chipped from the clippers and all and if you file the edge slowly and not for lon just to get the rough edges off

Is it bad to bite your nails with nail polish on them?

I bite my nails all the time but i am working to stop this bad habbit. If I know or not if its bad to bite them with nail polish on them, I might put some on to help me prevent me from biting my nails. Help me......Is it bad to bite your nails with nail polish on them?
it's definitely not healthy to bite nails with nail polish because some might chip into your mouth, and if this happens too much it is not good for you at all. and also if you bite nails when it has nail polish, the paint chips off and it just looks bad in general.

umm... aren't they supposed to be white??

anyways, make sure you clean under your nails (not to far that you'll hurt yourself) with that little filer/nail cleaner on the nail clippers and when you wash your hands.

They're not going to be extremely light. But you can eat more raw veggies. Also, more nuts, apples, asparagus, brown rice, cucumbers, eggs, garlic, grapes, liver (blegh--nvm!), onions, salmon, seeds, soy, tuna, %26amp; whole grains. How can i make the tips of my nails white naturally?
Well, my nails grow very fast and they're very strong and white. I don't paint my nails often but when I do, I put a coat of clear polish so that the color doesn't stain my nails. I usually paint my nails black, but you should do that for any color. Washing your hands often and keeping your nails clean helps a lot too. :)

What is the difference between gel and acrylic nails?

Acrylic nails are applied using a monomer (the 'liquid'), and a polymer (the 'powder'). The two ingredients are combined and the resulting bead of soft acrylic is placed into your nails and shaped into an artificial nail enhancement. Acrylic hardens by exposure to room temperature air in about 2 minutes for most brands. Acrylic is the most common form of nail enhancement offered in salons. If the tech uses cheap acrylic products, then the result is usually shoddy looking nails that yellow very easily, and look very fake. This usually happens in the cheaper salons, though I have seen it in higher end salons as well. It's always best yo use top of the line nail products when doing either acrylic, or gel nails on someone. The end result is usually so much better looking, and longer lasting than with cheap products.

UV gel nails are made from chemicals which are part of the acrylic family, but are different in a few ways. The most noticable difference is that the nail gels themselves are in fact not powder - as many people believe it is, but instead it is? You guessed it, UV nail gels are a gel! They look exactly as the name implies, like a 'gel.' Here is a pic of what top of the line UV gels look like. Notice they are NOT a powder!

    http://www.cnd.com/Home/homelink-consume鈥?/a>

The gels are applied to your nails in several thinly applied layers, and each and every layer MUST be cured under a UV lamp for about 2 minutes each. This is quite different from the way acrylic nails harden - by exposure to air. Gel doesn't cure by exposing it to air. It uses the UV light emitted from the UV lamp to start the process of polymerization, and cure into the finished product. This takes place in 2 minutes - normally. Some brands need to cure for 3 minutes.

To sum it up, UV gel nails are non-yellowing, non-toxic, and quite durable as well. They are also much more realistic looking than acrylic nails are, and you can go a bit longer between fills. But beware if you choose to get this type of nail. First, many discount salons (avoid these places at all costs!) will apply acrylic nails, then apply a thin layer of gel over the top and call them gel nails. Well, they are not gel nails, but rather they are acrylic nails. And you will get charged the higher gel nail price. That is a scam that happens all the time to unsuspecting girls/women. Then, these people will leave thinking they have gel nails. This is why there are so many misconceptions about real gel nails vs. fake. I've seen it before - ask the question on here ';How do I remove GEL nails.'; and everyone will tell you to soak them in polish remover, or acetone. If you got scammed and got acrylic nails instead of gels, then yes, they will soak off easily. And this is what happened to many people, so they think this is how they are removed. BUT, this is far from the truth. UV Gel nails are NOT soaked off. They cannot be due to their being non-porous. Thus, they are not affected by acetone or any other solvents. UV gel nails must be filed off. There is no other way to remove them. Anyone who tells you they had their 'gel' nails soaked off had acrylic nails, and not gel. Don't let that happen to you.

OK, enough gabbing on my part, LOL! I gave you a lot more info than you asked for - sorry...

  • What is the best color to paint your nails?

fair skinned person. need light color. please state brand. my nails get dirty easily and chip easily too. need it to stay on long. What is the best color to paint your nails?
lighter colors last longer. Pick a light pink and use a base coat , let it dry completly, use two caots of the light pink and let them dry completly then a coat of top coat. Put a top coat on every night to avoid chipping earlier. You can get light pink in pretty much any brand, just go to your local drugstore and i'm sure you'll find something. Hope it helps !

P.s. If you find your nails get dirty but you don't want to always have paint on them, cut them short, it will feel weird at first but you get used to them and they don't get dirty. What is the best color to paint your nails?
    brand Sally Hansen, pale pink
    i agree with Marcia m.
    Hot Pink
If you want a light color, stick to pinks. Blues, greens, and purples make fair skinned people ill. If I paint my nails--I'm fair skinned too--I either paint them with clear polish, dark red, or a medium pink. My old Bon Bons has never failed me by chipping.

You might just want to pick up some small one-use bottles of colors you're drawn to from a drug store. If it chips or the color looks bad, you don't have to worry about having spent big bucks on it or wearing it again.
Black. Not cheap black, awesome black...

put clear on, let that dry

then the black, let that dry

then another coat of clear, and that should do it!
    P!NK is da best!
The new color that I am currently wearing and all the stars are wearing is OPI linkin park in the dark... its a purplish black. It costs like 7.50 or one of my favorites is any of Sally Hansens white shine natural color nailpolishes... really makes them look clean and well manicured.
black has become the new classic look
i would go with a sweet pink or a light blue or maybe white
I'm also fair skinned, but I love reds and some of the browns. I use the reds for Christmas and valentines day. If I don't get my nails done at a salon, I try to add a clear coat about every 3-4 days to protect my nails and to keep my polish from chipping. If you can use rubber gloves when you have your hands in water, it keeps your nails nice longer. :-) I like opi polish, but I don't think the brand has anything to do with the polish staying on or chipping.Just make sure you use a clear top coat, any brand will do.
Those creamy taupe colors are always great. You can find them anywhere. Try a top coat for chips. That should last about one week typically.
i use bourgeois and it works well! i always put either electric blue, vivid red or black .... but unfortuantely you don't find many colors off the red pink tones! i never find any green or orange nail polish... don't do a french manicure - i find it repulsive
OPI is a great brand, its a little pricey but it lasts

Colour wise - bubble bath and mimosas for mr and mrs

they are light and even if they chip you can hardly tell
Cotton Candy works on eeryone. It clear put it has a pearly accent.
    black
Best base coat: Nail Tech' Foundation

OPI Color (light color for fair skin - Sanora Sunset makes your skin tone appear darker)

Top coat: Poshe' fast drying (long lasting and doesn't chip.)

To keep your polish on natural nails. Use Chip Skip by OPI before applying base coat.

How long should I wait to get my nails (rebase) done after I had tips put on?

This is the first time I've had my nails done. How long should I wait to get my nails (rebase) done after I had tips put on?
It depends... you can make it routine to go ever 2 weeks which is pretty normal for people that have their nails done. If your nails grow extremely fast i would recomend every week.

It also depends on how much abuse is done to the tips. For instance i type all day at work so my tips loose the shape that they were originally filed to, and they can form tiny cracks from the excessive tapping. So i go weekly. If you take it pretty easy on them every 2 weeks should be a good rule of thumb! How long should I wait to get my nails (rebase) done after I had tips put on?
It all depends on your nail growth. Usually when you start to see your natural nail growth or the your white or pink tips are showing light through them.
It really depends on where you went, how good they were originally done, and how fast your nails grow. For a job well done, and pretty fast growing nails two weeks might do.

If you think that your nails are not lasting as long as you would like try some place else recommended by someone you know.
I GO BACK ONCE A MONTH TO HAVE A FILL DONE. DONT WAIT TO LONG THE NAILS MIGHT START LIFTING FROM THE BASE, OR START SNAGGING YOUR HAIR. MINE GROWS SLOW SO I GO ONCE A MONTH.
If they are acrylics, usually every other week is good. Some people's nails don't grow as fast and they can go 2 weeks. I go every other Saturday and get new ones put on every 4th or 5th visit to keep them looking their best.
i usually go back for fill-ins 2 to 3 weeks after
You want to wait no longer than 2 weeks and no earlier than 1.5 weeks. It also depends on how fast your nails grow, if they grow really slow wait a little bit longer, vice versa for fast growing nails.

What size nails do furniture makers use for building things like entertainment centers?

    My dad uses 6 inch nails LOL %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

don't use nails only panel pins-screws-glueWhat size nails do furniture makers use for building things like entertainment centers?
Which fastener that is used depends on the forces that joint has. For example a Tv on an entertainment center would fall through if only a finish nail was used, but if the joint was mortised, glued, then finish nailed it would be great. The RTA (ready to assemble) stuff you get from Ikea or Walmart have cam screws on them which is a pretty good joint. However they will even put an upright under a TV for strength. What size nails do furniture makers use for building things like entertainment centers?
It all depends on the quality of the product. I use as few nails as possible. I use them as clamping devices while the glue dries. I rely on joinery and glue. I use as little hardware as possible.

Cheaper pieces will use nails and staples especially in mass produced goods because they can't afford to wait for the glue to dry.
If your going to build one ,cut your pieces and check the fit. Drill holes where you will use screws to fasten. before assembly ,use a carpenters glue for extra strength. Good luck! P.S. Never use nails for such a project!
i didnt know they used nails. i have one and its made of many pieces all glued together. the only screws used are the ones used to mount the door hinges. a friend who is a wood worker built mine, maybe thats why no nails.
finishing nails between 6 and 8d , also a lot use bradnails . they work a lot easier and hold good
    finish nails usually 8d
It varies. but you will see more screws and staples in furniture than regular nails

Is it normal for cats to lose their nails?

I have recently been finding my cats nails in the carpet and on the bed.Is it normal for cats to lose their nails?
Yes and no. If it's the whole, solid claw then no. But if it almost looks like a shell, then yes. They do shed the outer part of their claws from time to time, but they never lose the entire claw completely. Is it normal for cats to lose their nails?
    yes, its Normal

People think cats scratch to sharpen their claws, but this is not accurate. Cats claws are like an onion, and they shed each outer layer as it becomes necessary. They scratch to enable the outer sheath to remove itself. If your cat is not very adept at doing this, you will notice that there is a buildup of dead layers underneath the claw. These can usually be removed easily by picking it off with a fingernail. Your cat may also try to remove them by chewing on them. If you see your cat frequently chew on her claws, it may be because there are layers of dead sheathes he is trying to remove.

How can i quit biting on my finger nails?

I've been chewing my finger nails ever since I was a little kid,

any good methods to stop? How can i quit biting on my finger nails?
There is a clear nail polish and it makes u stop biting them because it tastes horrible! Try it!How can i quit biting on my finger nails?
Confront your problem. Get a camera and take some pictures of your bitten fingernails. Examine your nails, and list their problems.

Visualize yourself with healthy nails, and how great they will look.

Pick at least one nail to ';protect'; at a time.

After a few days, an non-bitten nail will flourish and reward you. Do not bite it. If you must, bite one of the 'unprotected' ones. Sometimes it helps knowing that you have another nail to bite, even if you don't actually nibble at any unprotected ones.

Once you have grown your non-bitten nail for a while, start protecting another one. And another. And another, until every single nail is protected.

Eat calcium and magnesium - rich foods so that your nails will repair and grow well. Not only that, but most of the reason that the human body wants to bite nails is the lack of calcium and magnesium in the body and the body needs that material back.

Push your cuticles back. Many nail-biters do not have ';moons'; on the base of their fingernails because their cuticles have not been pushed back. To do this, gently push your cuticles towards your finger to reveal more of your nail. This is easier to do after a shower when your hands and nails are wet. This makes the nail appear longer, and it gives a more attractive shape, which might also be a motivation to stop biting.

Find a habit to take the place of nail biting. Whenever you have the urge to bite, do that instead. Some people like to drum their fingers, or just stare at their hands. Just make sure it's not a bad habit; choose a helpful one or one that doesn't really matter either way. 'Bitrex' is a chemical that is put in products to make them taste foul, obtained from your local pharmacy. It's included in nibble inhibitors that you paint on to your nails. Carry some with you at all times. Apply your nasty solution several times a day. If you get used to the taste, choose another brand.

go to your pharmacys or wal mart and ask a worker to show you where the nail biting polish is. It taste AWFUL!! i know you WILL stop! it worked for me!
well, my dad used to bite his finger nails, so his parents got him that clear nail polish stuff, but he said it didn't really work. my little sister bites her finger nails, and she said she didn't feel the need to bite them when they were short and filed smooth, but do not get in the habbit of cutting your nails rather than biting them, my friend did that and with a nail cutter you can actually cut them too short and your fingers will hurt. also, try to be consious of what you ar doing, so if you catch yourself biting your nails, you can stop.
unless you do your nails.... before you start your day dip each finger in nailpolish remover, however if you have your nails done and dont want to mess them up take a half an onion and just kinda scratch at it .... trust me up close the smell will be so repulsive that you wont wanna put the nails in your mouth :)

    i hope this helps

Get you nails done. Like the fake ones that you get on at a salon. Trust me you wont bite them cuz you cant. Lol. But dont try taking them off yourself it hurts really bad and it messes up your nails.
Get your nails done really cute at a salon once every week (or more), so you won't want to mess up how adorable they look!
Get a manicure! Trust me! It saved my nails. I get solar nails which are fake nails but stronger! And if you bite yours like I did it makes your nails more feminine.
Just think of all the disgusting germs that are under your nails.
wear gloves, you'll look like a complete idiot, but you won't bite them
paint your nails so u cant bite it

maybe every two are three days.
My sister experience's that alot.. we have to cut them so many times.
Twice a wk. She hates it too so it's a big pain, but no choice! They get to be little talons if I go a week.
i cut my son own once a week
once a week otherwise they start to really scratch me!!!!!
Every week. His nails grow super fast like mine do. He has a black nail which I keep hoping will grow out. It looks so bad!
seems like they are so thin the break off on there own, but i do cut them about once a week
When my litle boy was that age I was doing it about once a week. After he got off of the formula they slowed down. Now I do it about every 2 weeks. (He's 17 months old now)
Usually once a week. Otherwise they get very sharp and we both look like the cat got ahold of us. Also its not very pleasant at feeding time as I am breastfeeding and he likes to pat and grab at me while he is nursing.
When my two boys were babies, I remember thinking how fast their nails grew- too fast! At some point I was cutting their nails at least every four days..... even then I thought I should have cut them earlier each time. I always felt like I couldn't keep up..... lol. I laugh now, but back then I used to get very upset whenever they had a scratch in their little faces from the long finger nails.
once to twice a week and it still seems like some times it is not enough
once a week, she's 3 now and still once a week.
i cut my child nails every week and sometimes twice a week
i guess every ones child's are different but just bite them each time they get long, my friend normally does it once a week... i watch her nibble away
    2 times a month
I go about 2 times a week as well.

The single most off putting thing on a man, even more so than a beard, is long nails. Nails as you describe are stomach churning. I completely support your right tohave them just think you are going to end up quite lonely.
    Oh yuk!!

Mens hands should be big and beefy with short nails.
How long is long, you should have them long if you want to but not so thay look to femine perhaps and lay off the red polish.
its up to you how you want your nails but personally i don't find that attractive
Long nails on a man - bit gay that! Very fashionable with gay Latino dancers for example.
I've never really taken the appearance of male fingernails into account to be honest... But thinking about it I'd prefer them to be shorter - less risk of certain intimate activities being painful!
Personally, as a woman, if i wanted a partner with long manicured nails i'd be a lesbian. I prefer a man to have short, clean nails. Long nails are a breeding ground for bacteria.

But each to their own, enjoy!
I don't like that on my man. Ewwww.. Usually only gay guys grow out there nails and take care of them like that!!
You are entitled to have your nails as you wish and I'm entitled to be completely repulsed by men with long nails. It's effeminate and a little creepy.
    gross!
    absolutely nott!

    deffinatly if they're long

    that grosses us out.

it doesnt matter if they're clean

we don't want our man to have better looking nails

    then we do,

you're a guy. keep it that way.
I love to have my nails longish. I'm not quite sure what your definition of long is. I want them clean and neat and over the tips of my fingers. And I like a jewel red. Not fire engine red but like ruby red with gold flecks (no not glitter I HATE glitter on my nails)
Obviously you have the right to do what you want. but we really dont like that......
That seem just wrong ew. That is so not attractive.
Don't grow long nails. That would just be weird.
Long.. no.. manicured (like kept clean) yeah..
oh noo please dont it just doesnt look right for men to have long nails
Each to their own I say and if it makes you happy then go for it but personnally I couldn't date a man with long nails.
i would say do what ever makes you happy, but for my personal opinion i wouldn't date someone with long nails, even though you say you get regular manicures, i just associate long nails on a guy as being dirty. plus i wouldn't want my bf scratching me all the time. i scratch myself enough with my own nails lol. anywho if thats what makes you happy, then keep em and when you find the right girl, it shouldn't matter to her. =)
Nooo !! ew no short and NOT MANICURED

and also, it would be painful while fingering the girl ! eww
how long you talking? i'm all for men who take care of their nails, don't get me wrong. i definitely don't prefer a man who has dirt %26amp; whatever else underneath them. But, long nails like women -- no, not for me. nuh-uh.
Mmmmm........... interesting. Any other indications that your have a dominant feminine side?
    I don't think that's attractive. I personally don't like it.
your right, if you want them that way then have them that way, but to be honest...im pretty sure that i have never met anyone who finds that attractive!
long nails are nasty! prefer if men have short nails! its more manly 4 a start!
My nails grow quite fast and I have to cut them every three to four weeks. I get embarassed when they are long, in case someone notices.

I don't think it's cool for a man to have long nails. If you said you use them to play guitar, then at least you would have an excuse.

But I would still think you are a bit gay.
    heck no
You could have trouble reaching up to the g-spot.

What color nails do guys like on girls?

Ladies (or guys who paint their nails): Do you have a love-hate relationship with white nail polish?

I certainly do. The polish sometimes appear a bit sloppy and translucent when I paint it onto my nails, but sometimes it looks really nice and natural. What is your opinion?Ladies (or guys who paint their nails): Do you have a love-hate relationship with white nail polish?
I totally agree..I have to to a thousand layers because it looks translucent, and than it chips so I hafta paint over, and than it looks un-even.

%26gt;%26gt;But when it looks good..it's to die for!! I love the white, stark..refined..classic..but funky..%26lt;3Ladies (or guys who paint their nails): Do you have a love-hate relationship with white nail polish?
lol i agree..it clumps sometimes and the nail looks really sloppy and the others look good...then it chips in like 3 days lol and looks like crap!
It can look elegant or it can look like I took a thing of white out to my nails. I generally try not to use it.
Same. I love it when it's done right. But I can't STAND it when I screw it up :)

Does it do any harm to have my nails done while pregnant. Just once or twice?

I went to a day spa and it was done in a well ventilated area. It was not acrylic nails, just my own, polished and painted. And what about acetone free nail polish remover?Does it do any harm to have my nails done while pregnant. Just once or twice?
No, if it's really only once or twice it's fine. Just try to avoid those really stinky little cheap nail places - there's a reason those ladies are wearing face masks! By the way, non-acetone removers can be harsher than acetone.

Another option is Aquarella nail polish. It's water based, totally non-toxic and safe. The remover is also very safe and doesn't have strong odors like the regular stuff. You can bring this to the spa with you and ask that they use it.Does it do any harm to have my nails done while pregnant. Just once or twice?
It's fine. The fumes aren't the greatest, but as long as you aren't there every day just sniffing it, you'll be fine. And your baby will be too(:
    That is totally Ok. :)
I WILL LIKE TO KNOW THIS TOO

Where can I get great quality fake french nails?

I'm looking to get cheap, great quality fake french nails. Where can I get them? I'm hoping to find them at Walmart, but I don't trust their quality items. I need it super cheap, like five dollars or less. I want Kiss French Nails, or Minx, but Kiss I think is expensive and Minx I have no idea wear to get them! Please help!Where can I get great quality fake french nails?
Um.. ii love nails! So yeah surprisingly I got these like Revlon nails from the dollar store, and they were amazing! But you can get fake nails from like Claire's for like $5. I mean they are perfectly fine !Where can I get great quality fake french nails?
Local drugstore. CVS or Walgreens or something.

If you're in the Midwest, Meijer might have them too. The most expensive ';cheap'; ones I could Google were $5.99.

Do you have any tips for Painting your nails?

Either basic or complicated? Like, which nail to start on, or whether to put on a lot of the bottom coat, or whatever!

I'm painting my nails for the first day of school, hot pink =]

Thankss.Do you have any tips for Painting your nails?
    1. wash your hands very good , if you have cream or any kind of oil on your nails it may ruin your colour .

    2. put on a protective base ( very important it will prevent your nails from turning that ugly yellow because of the polish and it will protect them from degrading )

    3. after the base is dry put on the first coat of colour and wait for it to dry and if you want another coat be careful because it will take longer to dry

! very important : never shake the the nail polish bottle this will cause the colour to mix with air and when you will put it on your nails bubbles will appear .

4 . you could put on a lair of protective overcoat to ensure the colour lasts longer , but this is not really necessary .

    hope it helps

I bite my nails and want to get acrylics to allow my nails time to grow out. How long do my nails need...?

I bite my nails and want to get acrylics to allow my nails time to grow out. How long do my nails need to be to get acrylics put on?I bite my nails and want to get acrylics to allow my nails time to grow out. How long do my nails need...?
I'd say a little longer than your nail bed. Enough for you to see the nail growing if you turn your hand palm side up and can see them growing out. But be careful because I know several people who had acrylic nails and when they took them off their nails were very weak and frail. They chipped very easily and weren't as strong as before.I bite my nails and want to get acrylics to allow my nails time to grow out. How long do my nails need...?
I've done bitten nails before. It's not the easiest to do but it can be done.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to a budget nail salon. They will damage your nails and it defeats the purpose of trying to grow them out because they will be weak and damaged instead. Go somewhere that does quality work so that if and when you decide to remove the acrylic overlay your nails will have minimal damage.
Your regular nails do not have to be long to get acrylics they can be pretty short but if you get acrylics they will ruin your real nails so that would be pointless! I have worn acrylics for a long time and every time I take them off my real nails are horrible!

Can artficial nails be used while recovering from a fungus infection?

I had acrylic nails and somehow picked up a fungal infection. It seems to be under control but is not gone yet. Someone suggested using artificial plastic nails while recovering. Don't know if this is helping or not. Also does anyone know of any tricks to have decent looking real nails if I give up the artificial ones entirely? I work in a medical office and decent looking hands are almost a have-to. I have VERY weak, flaky raggy real nails. Thanks for any tips. Can artficial nails be used while recovering from a fungus infection?
No. You can't put nails on while trying to get rid of a fungal infection. You can't treat it if you have fake nails covering the nail plate, and you're also providing a breeding ground for further infection.

Don't even paint your nails while treating the infection unless it is the treatment polish, which is clear (gotten at Sallys). Can artficial nails be used while recovering from a fungus infection?
u can use fake nails, but your real nails need time to heal properly before you cover them again. in the meantime, try using opi nail envy, and keeping your nails well groomed. give it some time, and your nails will look great again.

the website for the nail envy is www.opi.com. a little pricey, but made my nails beautiful!
dont use plastic nails while u r recovering. n a good way 2 make your nails look good r 2 file them n put nail hardner on n then make a decision if u r gonna wear the nails anymore or not
no its not recommended that you wear nail enhancements while treating a fungal infection....the fungus 9 times out of 10 didnt come from the enhancement itself....you can truly ONLY get a fungus infection if the nail tech isnt properly sanitizing their emplements....the nail where the fungus is needs to breath and be treated properly with medication....you can get this medication from a pharmacy or from a beauty supply store like sally's....you can also try a product for stronger nails by hard as nails(which you can also get from walgreens or cvs)hope this helps

Whats the easiest way to avoid biting your nails?

    i stopped for two monthes.

and just started up again this week.

how can i stop for good?Whats the easiest way to avoid biting your nails?
happened to me too, i just chew gum all the time now keeps me occupied so i dont think about doing itWhats the easiest way to avoid biting your nails?
get a manicure and then you'll stop cause u wont want to ruin it
Rub Tabasco or Dave's Ultimate Insantiy Sauce on your nails, that way, whenever you bite them, you will burn the **** out of your tounge and not want to do it again.
get one of those really gross tasting nail polishes and paint ur nails and u will think it is disgusting.

    OR

paint ur nails really pretty or get a manicure and u wont want to bit ur nails.

    OR

this may gross u out but there may b worm eggs under ur nails and if u swollow it you may poop out worms. it sounds absolutely ridiculous but it is true.
Distract your mouth. Eat carrot sticks to keep you busy. Keep a stick of gum handy for those weak moments. You could also get a manicure; it's harder to bite nails that look pretty! Another option is to put nail jewels on your nails. They are hard to bite, and the risk of one coming off in your mouth may scare you into quitting your habit. Good luck! :-)
Well what I did was I told my friends/family if they saw me biting them to tell me to stop and get my fingers away from my face. Because a lot of the times you dont even realize you are doing it.

Keep your fingers away from your face.

Paint your nails so you want them to stay pretty plus eating nail polish is gross.

Haha I hope I helped and you stop cause its really bad!!!! :)

  • Why do people hate the sound of finger nails scratching a chalk board?

I hate that sound and i wanna know whyWhy do people hate the sound of finger nails scratching a chalk board?
I hate the pitch and length of time it continues. It feels like it scrambles my intelligence wiring because I can't think right during that sound.

It physically hurts in my head, but I don't know how to explain it any better. Why do people hate the sound of finger nails scratching a chalk board?
I think it's the high pitch of it. If you think about it, usually you hear a high pitch is when there is danger, something painful is going on, or something needs immediate attention.

    For example:

    baby/kids crying

    metal tearing

    dentist's drill
I used to not hate it now i do.
I know right? I always wondered that too. I think its because the sound IS SO HIGH pitched and LOUD like someone was STABBING your ears!... maybe?
    cause it sucks!

How do you make the skin around your nails look better?

I bite my nails and sometimes I dont have nails to bite so I bite the skin around them.

It makes them look really ugly, so I was wondering how to stop and make them pretty and nice looking without going for a manicure. :]

    Questions:

How to stop biting my nails?

How to stop biting my skin around them?

How to make the skin look prettier?

WITHOUT getting anything expensive!!(no expensive cream)!!!!!!!!How do you make the skin around your nails look better?
I can never stop biting my nails! I don't know why but when I start I can NEVER stop. I do know some people that have pretty nails and skin around their nails, here's the secrets:

    1. When your about to bite your nails, say, ';No'; in your mind. Use your bottom front teeth to push back the cubicle. A cubicle is that skin on top of your nail where it starts to grow from, it helps grow nails by pushing them out. Also, eat jello, it helps a lot.

    2. When your about to bite the skin, and rip it off, bite on your nail. It doesn't hurt, but it stops you from biting the skin.

    3. Put your hands in water with soap, and lemon juice. It helps make it look nicer, and shiny!!!

I hope I helped! How do you make the skin around your nails look better?
Paint your nails with nail polish, nail polish is toxic if you ingest it, and the germs underneath and around your nailbed contain more bacteria than a toilet. If that doesn't stop you from biting your nails, I don't know what will.

Use neosporin on the skin until it heals. Then use vitamin E oil.

Should I have any problems clipping my dogs nails?

I have a Lab with long nails and I have been told not to clip them myself, to take her to a vet. Is there something to be worried about when clipping dogs nails.

ThanksShould I have any problems clipping my dogs nails?
no, not at all. I clip both of my dogs toe nails but you have to be very careful. Only clip the dead parts. The farther back you get and the pinker the nail gets is where the veins are and the blood. If you clip to far back you'll hurt your dog and some say a dog can bleed to death from being cut to far back. You just have to use caution and know what your doing. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself then go ahead and take your dog to the vet. Also, walking your dog and letting them run around on a hard surface like concrete will wear the nails down and keep them from over growing bewteen clippings.Should I have any problems clipping my dogs nails?
if ur dog has a dark coat GO 2 A VET! they have sensative skin under their nails like us and it hurts if u cut it. u need 2 cut it exact. but u should go 2 a vet anyway %26amp; ask. Hope i helped!!!
You have to be a little careful not cut into the quick. It's easy to see the quick with dogs that have light colored nails, but nearly impossible with dark nails. If you dogs has dark nails, just cut a little at a time. You're dog will flinch when you hit the quick. As long as you cut only a little at a time, you won't cut deep enough to cause any problems. Have some styptic powder and a wet q-tip on hand in case you accidently cut a little too deep and it starts to bleed. It's not a big deal as long as you clip a litte at a time.
umm...as long as you don't cut the dog
always walk the dog on hard surfaces, if your worried about the nails getting to long file them with a nail file
No there isn't anything to worry about, I do it all the time. The only thing is that your dog may not like it an may try to bite your hane. Just be careful not to cut past the red part of the nail because your dog may bite you. Good Luck!!!
According to the vet I see, it is fine to cut all ';white'; nails, as long as you use a proper dog-nail cutter (which you should be able to purchase at a pet store). As a previous poster mentioned, you should be VERY careful not to cut the red/pink part - stay 1 mm away from them. For black nails, as you cannot see the red (and dangerous) part, you should take your dog to the vet. Or else leave them, or judge by the others as to what seems about right (but err on keeping them longer!).
If you've never done it before, I would say take her to the vet and have them show you how to do it.

It is pretty easy to do, but you have to be very careful not to cut them too short. If you do they will bleed and it will hurt, kind of like when you do the same to your nails.
If you've never done it or your dog's paws are sensitive, you should go to the vet first and have them show you.

But as I know, vets tend to be expensive so if you want to do it yourself to save a little, get a decent pair of clippers. The Guillitine (dont think i spelled that right) are harder to line up. They have a ring to stick the nail through and a blade cuts them. Avoid those. And as mentioned by others, you have to be careful of the quick. Yes, you can see it in white nails but in black nails its harder. Clip a little at a time and when you start to see a whitish circle in the center of the nail, stop. Its getting close to the quick.

Its good to have something prepared in case you do get the quick. They have products, like quickstop that are made for this. (its a powder) However, a bar of soap (pressed into the nail) works well too. I've even used all-porpose flour. lol.
