Emo trend? What is with the new emo trend? Black nails and everything else. How can I keep my kids out of it?
People like you make me so mad.

You think everyone should be just like you.

Whats wrong with ';emo'; kids?

Your kids should beable to express themselves how ever they want! If you dont let them, their just going to rebel.

Who said emo was a bad thing anyway?

Ive never once met a nice,non-materialistic ';prep'; or jock';.

Why would someone want your kids to be like them?

Labels are really stupid anyway. Why do we label people?

Alot of ';emos'; dont even wear black ALL the time, even though they do alot.

Emo is a type of music anyway, and most ';emos'; are just emotional, which is what it stands for, and really into music.

Your a horrible parent, and I feel bad for your children.

Really, this question absolutely DISCUSTS me and there is way to much I could say to this, and my language would probobly be much to colorful for yahoo. What is with the new emo trend? Black nails and everything else. How can I keep my kids out of it?
There are a lot of stereotypes about what is and what isn't an ';emo'; first of all. Second, most are just into the fashion part of it--which most call scene. (That is in my experience). I would be more concerned with their emotional welfare than the clothes they wear. If they start painting their nails black this does not mean that they are going to hurt themselves in anyway; however if their attitude changes completely from their normal selves as a result of painting their nails black or whatever as I doubt simply painting one's nails black would change their entire life's perspective or vice versa, I would be worried.

If this is the case, it seems like you are more worried about your kids becoming emotionally unstable and depressed. If you suspect them of being depressed I would first try to communicate with them (if you do not have good communication already you need to find a way to connect--but don't push them) second I would try to get help.

Just try to keep them happy and healthy, I suppose, that's all you can do.

I hope this helped.
Why? Would you rather they were chavs wearing nike tracksuits and went on to completely fail in life?

I would much rather my kids were emo than chav.

Besides emo aren't like goths- emo's are more about looks.. however it doesn't change their personality. Goths tend to be more about focusing on death... strange i know. But yeah my point is EMO is completely different, it's just about looks (and some music). Therefore you should freely let your kids express them selves by how they look in which ever way they want. When they start turning goth and getting depressed, or turning into a dumb *** chav (who probably don't even have their own personality as they copy everyone else on everything. They probably don't even have a brain... ANYWAY) then you should star getting worried :)

And you shouldn't ever judge your kid on how they look. So just go with it. If you really are worried- DON'T BE. It's just another phase they will grow out of in time :)
Unfortunately, there's not a lot that you can do. Your kids have their own minds and are going to dress as they want, however, as long as they're not emotional or depressed then a little bit of black nail varnish never hurt anybody.

They are their own person and should be able to express themselves as they want.
If you try and control something as simple as a fashion of the times then you are going to have major rebellion when they gain freedom at 18. Please encourage your kids to express themselves how ever they see fit as long as it is safe, and that way they won't have future problems. Problems like not knowing who they truly are because you decided to stifle them.
';The new emo trend';? Are you kidding, lady? Emo has (abet unfortunately) been around for years. It's like Diet Goth, and really not too much to worry about. The worst that'll happen is your kids will spend way to much time being introspective and flat ironing their hair.

There are far worse things, like the AE %26amp; Hollister crowd the kid above me mentioned. Atleast your emo kid won't fall prey to that sort of pack mentality.
Why do you care how your kids dress?

Why do you care how your kids look?

Sure, of course, now no one wants an ';emo'; kid, but those ';emo'; kids are the ones being themselves.

The ones who dress in all AE and Hollister are the ones who are mean to people.

But it doesn't matter.

They're you're kids.

Let them be themselves.
Don't worry about it.

Black is just a color!!!

I have never once iin my life heard a parent telling their kids they can't wear pink or purple or blue, so why must black suffer!??

I don't know why people associate black with emo and that as a bad thing.

Just because your kids wear black does not mean theyre going to start cutting themselves and listening to screamo.

Just chillax, don't freak about something so stupid and insignificant.
if thats the way your kids want to express themselves, why not?black nailpolish never hurt anyone.if we were all prim pink and blonde, mit would be a boring world.just my opinion:)

if they are happy and safe what else matters? emo has some ridiculous stereotypes attached to it, ignore it, let them be themselves and let them be happy and support them whatever they do.
Emo is not as big of a deal as you are making it out to be. Girl jeans, black clothes, and eye liner not that bad. It could be worse they could be on the chess team.
I'm so happy i have the parents i do,

because i know i have unconditional love and support how ever i choose to dress.

Im very glad i am not your daughter :)
Emo means emotional. Yes emo's wear dark colours, but black nails? Alot of people paint there nails black, because its a cool colour :) Just keep your kids happyy and not emotionalllllllll :)

tell them';look kids emo ppl thr 2 kill themselves and its not cool!';

then mak ur kids look more pretty and dress them wit colors besides black:]
Ask your parents how they felt about your fashion trends when you were a teen, they will say the exact same thing.
you cant really. If thats how they want to be then you sort of have to live with that. They will one day get over it.
