Does it take time to get used to acrylic nails?

I've just had acrylic nails put on today, it's abit awkward picking up things, even texting. I can't even undo my buttons.Does it take time to get used to acrylic nails?
they sound to be too long - ask for them to be trimmed (tell them you want an 'active' length and shaped as a normal nail -- rounded versus square)

they'll be a bit different for a day or two - but after a while you will get used to them. A couple of pointers, you didn't ask but after years of using feel you should know:

--when cooking - especially dealing with chicken,etc...either wear disposable gloves or after each use clean under each nail well

--washing dishes, etc wear gloves or you'll be running to the nail person to repair.

--don't pull off the nails if you want to take them off. either soak fingers in pure acetone or go back to the nail shop and have them remove - otherwise your nails will be weak.

--watch for infections - if you see darkness under the nail, get something to help it or you will lose the real nail

In other words, they aren't miracle workers but make your nails look great (and nail color stays on longer on acrylics)

ahhhh well the acrylic is a topcoat and it can stick to the nail so ya it might be a hassel to get used to! lol
haha....for me it took like a week to get used to having long, perfect nails.....since i had to keep mine short for piano. but after a few days, i think you'll be used to them.
YES IT WILL TAKE TIME GETTING USE TO. THE MORE U GET UR NAILS DONE THE EASIER U WILL C HOW THINGS WILL BE MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE FOR U TO DO. IT WILL TAKE TIME SO DONT GIVE UP JUST YET OK. LIKE ME IM STILL TRYIN TO GET USE TO PUTTING ON ACRYLIC NAILS THE MORE I DO IT THE EASIER IT BECOMES AND THE BETTER I GET AT DOING IT. HOPE I HELPED TAKE CARE1
it gets better after a day or two dont worry
it takes a few days it took me ages to do my hair but after a while your forget there there
i wear them all the time. The 1st days a little awkward, but in a day or two you'll get used to them and u wont even know they're there. I promise.
it takes a little while to get used to. i would get them at a shorter length so they look nice, but you can still type and dress yourself. i had to get them fairly short, i had trouble trying to type, etc.
Yeah ditto everybody else...it's takes a day or two then you'll forget about it until you decide to take them off. Then you fingers are kinda sensitive.
yes you do get used to them, but when they start to grow out, thats when the problem happens and its so hard to get them off!!! and it damages your nails, becuase you have to sit your nails in nail polish remover
I too went through this problem, especially since my nails were very short before I put on acrylics. I would suggest you just keep trying, as there is really no other way to get used to them... unless of course you got them fairly long, if that is the case, getting them trimmed shorter or just going for a shorter length next time may help you.
i got used to them fast it all depends how often u where acrylic.
yes it will take time but then it will become natural and when or if you take them off that will be weird
