How long do fake nails usually last? How to maintain them?

I usually have decent long nails but lately they haven't been growing very fast, and my graduation is in a few days. Id like to have nice nails, so i decided to get fake nails. (easy, and cheep)| Unfortunately i don't have enough time to book an appointment to get my nails done so i have to get press-on fake nails. Any suggestions on brands, etc.

How old is he? It could be a number of things. It sounds like a nervous/anxiety disorder, maybe? I'm not a professional by any means, but maybe you should take him to a doctor and find out what is going on. I used to be a regular nail biter, it was hard to stop but I did.
There is a clear nail polish out on the market where when he puts his finger in his mouth they taste bidder. My mom got some when my little sister got into the habit of chewing on her nails.

Try going for weekly manicures, your nails will be too pretty to bite/chew/pick at.





Keep your hands busy while watching tv, l or better yet, put a thick heavy cream on your hands and cover with cotton gloves, your hands will be silky smooth.





If you like take up knitting or stiching, something that will keep your hands busy.

I do the same..i know it's hard to break the habit. First paint your nails. This still may not stop you so if you are doing something like watching a movie that doesnt involve moving try sitting on your hand or keeping them folded in your lap and everytime you think of reaching them up to bite you should remember by the polish to put them back down.
Identify exactly when it is you start chewing your nails. Is it when you are at home, work, or school? Is it when you are sitting and hanging out or watching TV? Understand what might trigger mild anxiety for you and find a substitute for this behavior (such as bringing a glass of water to your mouth instead when you feel the urge to chew, or carrot sticks, whatever).





Wouldn't hurt to go for a mini manicure at a salon to encourage you to take better care of your hands.





I bet if you let your nails grow a little naturally and kept them neatly filed, you would have nice looking hands.

keep your hands busy with kniting or paint your nails.
Try keeping nail polish on your nails. You might pick at them at first, but hopefully that will deter you for awhile. There is also a nail polish type stuff that you can paint on your nails that tastes bad, to prevent you from biting you nails. You can try that.
I did that when I was little and my mom got this really gross tasting yet pretty nail polish stuff. It completely cut the habit. Another way to stop it is to cut your nails really short so you can't get at them to bite.

Here's an old trick;





Mix a drop of tobasco sauce in clear nail strengthening polish and wear that. It burns your mouth ';gently'; and will prevent the biting, plus strengthen them from all the biting you've done.





Wear it for 21 days, that's how long it takes to break a habit.
Dip your finget tips in vinegar or something gross.. that way every time u try to bite them you will taste that gross taste

You can go buy special nail polish that tastes like crap or you can just do it the country way.





You should probably keep your nails painted red so it doesn't show as bad but anyway. You take cayan pepper or paprika (which ever spice just really burns your mouth) and you mix it with vodka and hot sauce or (you can use a little vegetable oil for the vodka if you have to) until it gets a little thicker than nail polish. The thicker you can keep it the better. Use an old nail polish brush that you have washed or even a q-tip and brush the mixture on your fingers. Let it dry really good. Vodka evaporates quicker so it dries faster, thats why more people choose it. It will dry and get hard (think about dishes you leave in the sink too long) and when you bite your nails you will get that burning from the spice. Its not toxic like nail polish and burning lasts for a while so you get the lesson quicker.

get you a good lotion for the dryness. Eucerin is a good lotion for it. Also, to stop bitting the nails....I just had to do the same thing. What worked for me was keeping a nail file in my purse so if one chips I can just file it down instead of bitting it off. Also I kept that clear polish on them that makes nails stronger. It takes a lot of will power but youcan do it!
cuticle oil will take care of the hang nails. it's winter, my hands are a mess too. biting your nails is another issue.
use any hand lotion that you want, but be sure to use it plenty of times a day. use a moisturising hand wash to wash your hands--- avoid using soap. they tend to dry out your skin.


also, for your nails, try dipping your hands in olive oil. that should give you a head start. slowly, move on to using cuticle oil.


also, keep a watch on your diet. make sure you get plenty od calcium. it'll keep your nails strong and healthy!

First, exfoliate your hands once a day with a hand-formulated exfoliator. They have one at Bath and Body Works called 60 second Spa..or something like that. Or, you can just mix sugar with baby oil and massage into your hands for 60 seconds. Once your hands are dry, use a good moisturizing lotion (i like Vaseline Healthy Hands %26amp; Nails hand lotion). Your hands will feel great because they are receiving moisture from the baby oil and the lotion.

Clip your hangs nails, try not to bite them. I'm going through the same thing. Before bed put a good lotion on them like cetaphil, or Vaseline ( my favorite ). This may sound weird, but put socks over them. It will lock in moisture, and avoid getting lotion everywhere.

You have to use thick lotion, like cocoa butter or something. And this is wierd, but try to only put it on your knuckles and rub from there - I have the same problem and cocoa butter works great ,but if I put it all over my hands my palms look shiny and greasy - yuck! The cocoa butter will help if you rub it around your cuticles too. If it gets REALLY bad, then put petroleum jelly all over your hands and cover them with socks and sleep like that. It's kind of lame but I do it sometimes =) You take off the sock in the morning and your hands are so soft!

If you don't mind another couple weeks with toenail polish, usually what I do to get rid of it is put a clear coat of nail polish on and then put one coat of color. By the time you go to take the color off, the yellowing is gone.





In the future, if you put a base coat on your nails with clear polish, it kind of creates a seal which prevents the colored paint from staining your nails. It also makes it SO easy when it comes time to remove your polish!

The yellow in your toe nails may be from painting but also may be due to a fungus. There are medications to take but they can be very dangerous. I personally cannot use them. There are, however, homeopathic and other natural remedies that you can find on the internet and in health food stores. This is just from personal experience. Also, if there is any curling of the nail or thickening, it is most likely a fungus.
The yellowness will eventually grow out. In the mean time, always put a base coat on your nails before putting colour on them. I love red nail polish, but it really stains your nails. I started using a base coat, and the stains eventually grew out.
Cut up a lemon and rub the inside of it on your nails. It has a natural bleach in it and will clear up the yellowing. This is all you need to do. All the other stuff everyone is saying is just money wasting.
Actually this happened to me and it may be that u have Athletes foot. So i recommend u go to a specialist or use a special athletes foot cream daily.
Drugstores have like Sally Hansen stuff for yellow nails with like green tea in them? Just shop around, you'll evetually find something ;)

Price depends on the salon, and they are suppose to come in a wide variety of colors. You need to call the salons in your area and ask. Also it's not polish, it acrylic tips. They are suppose to be a bit more expensive than regular acrylic tips and take a little bit longer to apply.

To Stop Biting:


';Save'; one or nails at a time, biting the others but not the saved ones. Not biting these two nails will give them a chance to grow and strengthen (biting weakens your nails).


After a bit, ';save'; another nail. Then another. And another. Eventually you'll be gnawing on one, easier to give up.





To make Them Grow:


Eat protein, your nails are made of keratin and need protein to grow.


Make sure you get a balaced diet with lots of vits and minerals!





Then, moisturise your nails with a cuticle butter or hand cream (personally, I recommend Lush's Lemony Flutter) each night.


Your nails will need time and TLC to be healthy.

Well, French Manicures and French Tips are really popular, since they can go with every outfit, and look classy (not those horrible fake ones that look like talons though!). However, if you're looking for something that is a little different, you can still have the french manicure, but instead of white, use a different colour like purple, or pink. I personally think a neon green is really different, yet still sorta cute.


You could get your nails cut to a nice length, and have a solid colour painted on. I normally do this with purple, then put a thin layer of teal over it, so it's this ultra pretty colour. You could try that as well.

My rabbit has very long nails, and I have tried to clip them with a rabbit nail clipper. The problem is that my rabbit does not stay still when I try to do this. Would it be reccomended to find a vet to clip my rabbit's nails? And is there a way to keep my rabbit still if I try to clip her nails myself?

Clipping them a little bit at a time is the best idea. You can also get a vet to show you - a lot of first-time bunny owners get a vet to show them at first.





Wrapping your bunn in a towel is a good idea you can try. Some people hold their bunn on his back on their lap, because they sometimes struggle less in this position. But our bunny struggles more in this position, so we sit him on my friend's knees, or on the couch, in the corner of the couch so he can't back away, upright on his four feet, and keep my arm wrapped around his back while I hold the relevant foot and cut his nails.





Rabbits have a blood vessel running down the centre of their nail - if your rabbit has white or pale coloured nails, you'll be able to see the pink blood vessel inside. You must be careful not to cut too closely to this, or it will bleed badly. Just in case this ever happens, you can stop the bleeding with powder such as talcum powder or plain flour.





If she's a very dark colour, it will be harder to see the blood vessels running through the middle of her nails ... hold a flashlight on the other side of her foot, so that the beam shines through her nail, and that lets you see the blood vessel more easily.





It's a challenge for the beginner, but the more you do it, the more both you and your bunn will get used to it.

have u tryed putting your rabbit on its back?...sometime that helps to relax then, but other times it can drive the rabbit crazy. Also, you can try just putting your rabbit on a table with a non-slip surface. Using only your index finger and middle finger make a ';V'; and stick them over your rabbits neck, pressing them into the ground. This will hold your rabbit still for awhile while another person can clip the nails.
wrap him in a towel, (get someone to help u, one hold one clip) let him burry his head into u. u can also scruff him by the neck which wont hurt him but will give u control.
I clipped my rabbit with dog nail clippers. They work wonderful and the rabbit didn't even care. You can get them at a local pet store or Wal-mart on the pet aisle.
You can go to the vet, or try wrapping the bunny in a towel with only the leg you're workingon sticking out. Can you have someone else hold it too?
Along with all the other posters (they have some great ideas), you can also try your local petstore. Petsmart doesn't do this, but a lot of times the smaller petstores will trim nails of all kinds of animals (birds included, and they'll usually clip wings too!) for a much smaller fee than going to the vet. I have a petshop 2 miles away from me called Fish Gallery and Pets that will trim a rabbit's nails for $5. Much cheaper than the $50 that my vet charges. Try calling around to find a petshop that will do it. They can show you some great ways to handle your pet so that you can do it on your own. Hope it helps!
Well,I also have a rabbit and she also has very long nails but I do want to let you know that cutting your rabbits nails by yourself might not be such a good idea since rabbits have veins in there nails and if you cut them your rabbit might not survive so I recommend you take your rabbit to the vet and have the vet cut them.
Um, have one person hold the rabbit, and you cut the rabbit's nails.

Clipping a rabbit's nails is not particularly easy, no matter how you do it, she won't like it. A vet might have more experience and might be able to help you. I find it easiest to clip nails when the bunny is on his back in my lap, he doesn't like it very much though. Some rabbits will relax if you hold them belly up and stroke their face until they relax, but it only works if your bunny really trusts you. I usually wrap my bunny up in a towel when I'm clipping nails and if he starts getting stressed, I let him go. It's easiest to only do a few nails at a time.

What is the best, easiest, safest way to remove acrylic nails?

The safest way to remove acrylic nails is by soaking them in pure acetone. It helps to warm the acetone slightly by placing it in one small bowl, and then placing that bowl into a slightly larger one that has some medium-hot water in it. By warming the acetone, it helps speed up the removal time by about 10 minutes or so. Usually, it takes about 20-25 minutes for the acetone to soften the acrylic enough to begin to gently scrape it off with an orange stick, or simply rubbing it off with a paper towel. The acetone does tend to have a minor drying effect, so to help replace any lost moisture in your nails, and any exposed skin, apply cuticle oil, and also use a good moisturizing habd lotion afterwards. Applying hand lotion is a good thing to do everyday anyway, especially after washing your hands. Apply cuticle oil 2-3 times a day, every day. This helps keep your nails moisturized, and they become healthier as a result, not to mention that your cuticles will look and feel better too.


Never try to force the acrylic nails off by prying them off, or tearing them off with things like cuticle, or nail nippers. And don't let a nail tech do this to you either. Forcing them off WILL cause damage to your natural nails - sometimes severe damage, and it will also hurt quite a bit too.What is the best, easiest, safest way to remove acrylic nails?

I have only ,my pointer find and my thumb nails that I got done three weeks ago on my hand.

ok so here is the safest way to do it and the way that will cause the less stress on your nail beds. i am a nial tech and have been doing nails in a spa since '93. this process is easy and painfree, but work best if you have a friend do it with you....good luck








first start off with a glass bowl and soak about 13-17 cotton balls in pure acetone---you can find this at a sallys beauty or at your local paint and hardware store---the bottle must say pure acetone!!-----





next take some aluminum foil and cut it in squares--big enough to hold the cottonand your fingernail and be able to wrap all the way around it.





next take an abrasive file and rough up the acrylic nail afew times with the file....this is so the acetone can soak in faster.





next put a peice of foil under the finger you are going to start with and then take a soaked cotton ball and place it on top of your nail. wrap up the foil all around the cotton and your finger.





continue to do this to all fingers. let sit for atleast 30 minutes.....





after 30 minutes take i off at a time and gentle scrape off melted acrylic with an orangewood stick until it all comes off. do this to all fingers one at a time. if any have a little more to get off just redo the steps all over again.





if you have a paraffin machine i do suggest that after you have the foil on all the fingers , rub some lotion on your hands and fingers--making sure not to touch the tips of you fingers with lotion, then dip your hand into the hot wax 3x and then wrap it up in saran wrap and let it sit 30 minutes. the heat from the paraffin helps to speed the process up and is a nice skin softner for you.





now if you have gels this wont work and if you go to a chop shop this might not work either bc they dont use the appropriate supplies..How to get archrilec nails off?
Without damaging the nail bed underneath the best solution would be to either get them re-done, or go to the place you got them done and ask them to be removed. The only other option is to soak them in nail polish remover but that tends to be a drain and takes a while.
sometimes soaking them in nail polish remover gets them off. or hot water. but the nail polish remover usually always works.
Soak them off in pure acetone don't just tear them off soaking them takes time and its not painful but you will be saving your nails in the long run
Soak your nails in Nail Polish Remover for 10 minutes!

Maybe a fungus.........try using vick's vapor rub for a while and see if that helps......and QUIT BITING YOUR NAILS!!!!
It is because of your saliva. I know it takes a LONG time to get off the nail chewing habit but try. I am still trying though so we can be together in this!
That is your breath you are smelling. It can be a sign of gingivitis if it is really stinky. Listerine morning and night when you brush your teeth and you will notice a dfference within a week or two once the gingivitis is dead.
Your breathe is definitely the culprit. Most likely you are a smoker as well.
I think you should go to the doctor. You might have an infection or something like that. The doctor will give you something if they can or tell you a type of doctor that can help your problem. Hope I helped and that you getyour problem worked out soon.

You can buy these nail polishes that are pens. thy come in about a trillion different colrs and you can do just about anything on your nails with them. designs, words - john haahha- ANYTHING.
