I actually wouldn't do it. It is very cruel because then it would have no way of defending himself. Though the surgery of removing them is pretty high because they do lots of crazy things...I wouldn't do it.How much does it cost to get your cats nails clipped?
It's actually very simple to do.. and the cat MAY be better if you do it.
All cats have white nails so you can see the ';quick'; (the pink where you DONT want to clip).
Think of their nails like ours. Same concept. Don't cut too close to the pink and you will be fine.
They sell kitty nail clippers... Just push near the end of their toe and it will extend the nail and just quickly clip. You can even file them afterwards to make them smooth.
if the vet does it, its the price of a consult at your local vet (around $50). at the groomers its cheaper around $10-$20. i find that groomers who groom cats have much more experience than vets as they do it everyday when vets only do it occasianally. i have actually seen some vets cut the quick (blood vessel). although if there are any other health issues you have with your cat just go t the vet and get it all sorted in one go.
Have you had your kitten in for his basic shots at the vet? The vet office will do the nail clipping and show you how to do it yourself.
Great idea to get the kitten used to it at this early age.
Petsmart, about $8.00. I have a dog and take him there. I am not sure if they do cats...call and find out.
At my clinic, its $9.00. Its going to be about $8.00-$10.00 average.
