you need to take your hamster to the vet for that, becuz if you do a mistake you may hurt the hamster and blood will be all over. How do i clip my poor hamsters nails?
no i wouldnt do that. if you are concerned, take hiim to the vet. hamsters have small tiny feet and nails and it could end in disaster. infact, i dont think the vets clip them as a rule.
see what others say on here.
Occasionally a hamster's toenails may become overgrown. Dwarf Campbells Russians do have very long nails as they mature and this is usually nothing to worry about. However, if a hamster is scratching itself during washing due to long nails or the nails are starting to curl underneath the feet then they will need treatment.
Lining a box with sandpaper and letting the hamster run around in the box for a short while each evening will often file the nails down. (Sandpaper should not be used to line the floor of the cage.) However, in some cases it may be necessary file the nails down with a nail file or to clip them. If you attempt to do this yourself you will need someone else to hold the hamster while you file or clip the nails and you must be careful not to cut the nails down too much as you may cause the nails to bleed. Alternatively you can take the hamster to a vet to get the nails clipped.
make sure that the hamster is kept still get a family member to hold him make sure you dont squeeze him
There are two things you can do:
1)It would safer to take him to the vet as they are highly quilified!
2)you could cut them your self but if you do this be careful as if you cut them too small then youwill hurt him and put him through alot of distress!
I take mine to the vet I would if I was you!
go to the vet and ask them to do it for u......if u try to do it then it might squirm and u my cut off his paw or something!!
Well I know you can trim the nails on a rat (not too sure about a hamster) as long as they dont squirm too much you should be good, dont forget that they have wicks in their nails too!
Honestly though, the first time you go to do it I would have the vet show you the best way so you dont accidently chop off a toe.
You cant do it yourself bring it to the vet
they might be fine u just need to make sure by taking him to vet cause you might cut them too short and they never keep still so u probabley will hurt it.
take it 2 the vet. itll be better to get it done my a professional. hamsters nails arent supposed to be clipped, but if you have to, take it to the vet. hope this helps =]
